Marksmanship TONIGHT Level 1-3

Join us level 1 to 3 cadets for marksmanship (range) tonight – this is your chance to shoot the rifles for your marksmanship badge. Next week is level 4-5+.

List of groupings required will be provided tonight.

This is your last chance for firing this training year.

NOTE: if you are in level 4-5+ and cannot make it out next week, come tonight. If you are in level 1-3 and cannot make it out tonight, come next week.

WOA Drill Competition

 DRILL TEAM MEMBERS:  Competition is Friday May 06-Saturday May 07, Fanshawe College, London

Depart: Region of Niagara HQ, 2201 St. David’s Rd, Thorold @ Friday May 6 @ 1800hrs (6:00pm) – do not be any later than 1745 (5:45pm) Bus leaves promptly.

Return: Same address – Saturday May 07 @ approx. 2030hrs (8:30pm)

 Kit:        Wear Squadron spirit wear

·        Uniform (C2) – Bring in a suit bag, carry boots

·        Boot shining kit & lint brush

·        Toiletries

·        Sleeping clothes

·        Something to do for Saturday & on the bus

·        Health card (bring temp paper if you have one)

DO NOT BRING CELL PHONES.  OCdt Couroux will have his phone with him for emergencies.  # is 289-257-6484.

Senior Cadet Year End Trip

The year end trip planned for June 2016 dates have been finalized to 10, 11, 12 June.  The original staffing conflict for that weekend has been resolved allowing us to avoid the high school exam period all together.

Note that your $50 fee to participate is due no later than Wednesday 4-May-2016 to guarantee your spot.

Confirmed information at this time:

  • Departure: 13:00 Friday June 10
  • Return: 19:00 Sunday June 12

CO’s Parade, Guest Speaker, Sponsor Appreciation Night

Parents/Guardians are welcome to join us for this exciting evening. The program will begin following opening briefing and uniform inspection and continue until closing parade at 9pm.

Mr Toby Gula, former CSC of 809 Sqn & current Pilot at Air Canada, will be joining us as our Guest Speaker. We will also be having our CO’s parade – make sure those uniforms are ready! – and finishing with a celebration honouring our Sponsoring Committee members and all they do to make the Squadron the best it can be.

Forward March

1.         Attached to this e-mail is the March issue Forward, our interactive poster newsletter aimed at spreading Renewal ideas and encouraging forward thinking in the Canadian Cadet Organizations.

2.         We received some great responses from our readers this past month and we are looking forward to hearing more from you this time around. Moving into March, we are asking readers to tell us what they love about the programs, and join our ongoing conversation about Cadet Recognition and Rewards.

3.         Forward is a linked PDF – clicking on any of the white boxes will automatically take you to more online content related to the story. Readers may need to log in to the CCO net or the extranet portal to see some links.

4.         This interactive version can be shared online via social media or websites. This newsletter can also be printed out and displayed at the corps or squadron or patrol location, where cadets, JCRs and adult staff and volunteers can easily see the information as printed. WAIVER-Feb_2016-pdf – you can either download & print & sign it at home, or take the ones we will have tonight at the squadron. Either way, you need one SIGNED by your parent before you can participate next Wednesday night.

REMEMBER: both March Break activities (Bowling on Mon and Rock Climbing on Wed) are FREE to cadets.
