Drill Team Parents!

Do you want to watch your cadet compete at the WOA Drill Competition this wknd? Don’t know where you’re going?

MEET: Toys R Us parking lot St. Catharines (just off the Lake St exit on the QEW)

TIME: 530am, Sunday 14 May 17

BRING: Coffee, camera, snacks

We will be returning immediately following their competition time (scheduled for 8am inspection, 830am time on the square) – anticipated return time to St. Catharines 11am.

Drill Team: WOA Band and Drill Competition

It’s that time again. The WOA Band and Drill competition is coming up this weekend. As per last year, we’ll be staying over night at Fanshaw College in London. We’re slated for breakfast and lunch on Sunday. Make sure you have supper before departing on Saturday night as we won’t be stopping for food. Bed linens will also be provided.

Here are the timings:

Saturday May 13:
1815 hrs (6:15pm) – Assemble @ Virgil Public School for 1830hrs departure

Sunday May 14:
0800 hrs – Inspection
0830 hrs – Performance
1230 hrs – Depart for home (approx. arrival in Virgil 1500hrs – 3:00pm)

Bring with you the following:

  • Uniform – Carry with you – C2 (full uniform, shirt and tie, ribbons – no medals)
  • Wear your Drill Team hoodie & track pants or shorts
  • Sleep wear
  • Toiletries
  • Towel
  • Health card
  • Something to do in your down time. Don’t bring anything with you that you wouldn’t like to lose.

Remember to work hard and to have fun. This is what we’ve been working for all year. Parents, my cell phone is below for emergencies only. See you Saturday.

WOA Drill Competition

 DRILL TEAM MEMBERS:  Competition is Friday May 06-Saturday May 07, Fanshawe College, London

Depart: Region of Niagara HQ, 2201 St. David’s Rd, Thorold @ Friday May 6 @ 1800hrs (6:00pm) – do not be any later than 1745 (5:45pm) Bus leaves promptly.

Return: Same address – Saturday May 07 @ approx. 2030hrs (8:30pm)

 Kit:        Wear Squadron spirit wear

·        Uniform (C2) – Bring in a suit bag, carry boots

·        Boot shining kit & lint brush

·        Toiletries

·        Sleeping clothes

·        Something to do for Saturday & on the bus

·        Health card (bring temp paper if you have one)

DO NOT BRING CELL PHONES.  OCdt Couroux will have his phone with him for emergencies.  # is 289-257-6484.

WOA Band & Drill Competition

The Western Ontario Area (WOA) Band & Drill Competition is next wknd: 10 & 11 May 14. We are scheduled to compete on Sun, 11 May at 1245pm at Fanshawe College in London ON. WOA Band & Drill Competitions Shedule 2014  The bus departs from the Sqn LHQ at 0700 hrs and returns at approx. 1600hrs the same day. B&D – Bussing 2014

Unfortunately this conflicts with Mother’s Day. Although we regret to pull your cadet from family commitments, we ask that you understand that there are 69 teams competing, and at least 25 units must be scheduled for the Sunday. Our team members have been working hard each week to improve their 3rd place finish at the NAG Drill Competition in April. We look forward to them representing 809 Sqn on the area stage at the drill portion of the competition next weekend.

Dress for traveling: Sqn t-shirt, jeans, running shoes, cadet parka liner

BRING: Uniform – all parts for C-2. Tunic, tie, blue dress shirt, pants, belt, socks, parade boots, wedge in a garment bag.

BRING: a backpack with a snack for the bus and something to read/listen to. We will be sharing the bus with 23 Sqn St. Catharines (after it picks us up in Virgil it will travel to St. Catharines before continuing on to London).  DO NOT BRING ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO LOSE.

 

FTX A HUGE SUCCESS & Mon Night Trg

WOW! The FTX was fantastic. The awesome trg schedule, range, snowball fight, rocket launch & Team Canada’s Gold medal game made it one for the record books.

Thank you to everyone that contributed treats – they were delicious. Also a big thank you to CI Thiffault for all of her advanced prep in the kitchen and to our Officer Staff for taking an afternoon off from their regular work week to join the advance party and make sure we were ready for the cadets at 730pm.
