Fundraising

We need your financial assistance to provide enriching experiences for our youth and to contribute to the development of tomorrow’s leaders.

The Air Cadet program is a non-profit organization serving youth between the ages of 12-18. The program is dedicated to producing leaders of tomorrow through education and activities focused on aviation and aerospace, leadership, citizenship, physical fitness, drill, marksmanship and field craft. During the summer, when the squadron’s local activities are suspended, cadets have the opportunity for more focused participation through basic and advanced summer training programs. The program is designed to encourage youth to acquire leadership and teamwork skills that will aid them in the future. There is also an appreciation for the air element of the Canadian Armed Forces. These aims are met through regular weekly training, weekend exercises, parades and community service.

The Air Cadet program is sponsored in part by the Department of National Defence (DND) and the Air Cadet League of Canada. DND contributes to the program by covering most of the costs associated with delivering the training program, including: training and paying the squadron’s uniformed and civilian staff, administrative and activity costs. The Air Cadet League covers the cost of insurance, aircraft maintenance and pilot qualifications. All other costs (facility rental, optional citizenship and education trips, &c) are managed by the local Squadron Sponsorship Committee through local fundraising.

809 Newark Squadron began in 1973 in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Throughout its years in Niagara, 809 Newark Squadron has supported the community in Remembrance Day Services, the Santa Claus Parade, supporting the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 124 and other community events.

809 Newark Squadron currently meets at the Croatian National Center in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The Air Cadets need your support to ensure that we have a home base from which to offer the program locally, to fund the remainder of the cost associated with field training exercises and citizenship trips and to move forward with other exciting activities now being planned.

Your organization can be a part of developing our leaders for tomorrow. Varying sponsorship levels are available.

We welcome your support.
