Severe Weather Watch – Niagara Region

https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/severe-weather-outlook/ontario/niagara-on-the-lake

Please follow the above link for updates on the weather system developing today. There is a very real possibility that we may need to end the bottle drive early to ensure the safety of our cadets and parent drivers. Currently, the weather network and #ONStorm are anticipating severe thunderstorms beginning in the late afternoon to early evening for most of Niagara.

We will be monitoring the situation today, and will update you through this website. Cadets will be recalled in the event of severe weather and the rally point will be the VanNoort Greenhouses on the corner of Hunter & Creek Roads (same as drop off). They will call for pick-up at that point.

Capt Palumbo will have her cellphone available today: 289-783-1942 Please call if you have updated weather information, experience an emergency situation or need to contact your cadet.

A Military Sound and Light Show – Fort George

Join us as Fort George and the Lincoln and Welland Regimental Museum commemorate over 200 years of Niagara’s military history. The fort will come alive as interpreters, animators and veterans display uniforms, weaponry and vehicles from the War of 1812, World War I, World War II and other historic time periods. Demonstrations will be happening throughout the day inside Fort George.

Back by popular demand is this truly unique event that combines the roar of tanks, the beating of drums and the crack of muskets with music and light to put on a show like no other! *Regular Admission Rates Apply. For more information, call Parks Canada at 905-468-6614.

Squadron Wish List

At long last, the Squadron Wish List that used to adorn the office chalkboard has been typed out with approx. cost for each item and available stores for purchase.

For those that have expressed an interest in purchasing/donating these items for the squadron, please understand that you are in no way obligated to do so. Donations of any kind – large or small – are always appreciated, so that we do not have to use cadet raised funds to purchase them.

The list is not exhaustive – you may notice the lack of Tim Horton’s gift cards (always great for training weekend Timbits) or coffee pods for the Office Keurig. Printer paper, office supplies and almost anything else you can imagine we use, is also welcome. Just check in with the staff before you purchase it, so we don’t end up with so many tents we have nowhere to store them.

Thank you in advance to those who have already given gifts of paper, coffee and other awesome items that make working at 809 a delight. Your generosity is truly appreciated.

For those looking into a long-term donation, please contact the Sponsoring Committee through Mr. Hendriks to hear about our Corporate Sponsorship program.
