C2B: EVERYONE – dress rehearsal for Saturday. If the weather is like it was last wknd, we will be in short order for the parade Sat. So, tonight wear your blue dress shirt (iron it!) so we can make sure you’ll look your best.

Baked Goods for Post-parade BBQ on Saturday

Once again, we’re asking parents to contribute desserts and baked goods for our post-parade BBQ on Saturday. Anything that is your favourite and nut-free would be ideal, but please avoid anything that requires utensils as these will be in short supply. Cookies, brownies, butter tarts and lemon tarts (if you feel the need to be on Capt Palumbo’s good side) are all good examples. As always, we’re hoping to fill the dessert table without additional cost to the Squadron. For those who can’t bake, timbits and and store-bought cookies will be accepted with a smile, too. Desserts can either be dropped off with your cadet or brought when you come for the parade itself. Thank you in advance.

Banquet Numbers and Payment due TONIGHT

We welcome your family and your cadet(s) to join us for the Annual Ceremonial Review Cadet Awards Banquet, on Fri 3 June, 2016 at the NOTL Community Centre. 630pm arrival for 7pm dinner.

Cadets are free, siblings (under 12 years of age) are $10 each and adults/siblings 12 & over are $15 each.  Please make sure you include your cadet in your RSVP.

Dress is semi-formal. No uniforms!

Final numbers for this event must be confirmed by TODAY!!!!! RSVPs received after this point cannot be accepted.

RSVP to the evite – it was sent out from EVITE.COM last weekend. Check your inbox.

All tickets are VIRTUAL – when you RSVP to the evite, you will be added to the dinner. Cheques can be made payable to 809 Newark Sqn. Cash is also accepted. Payment is due ASAP.

Annual Cadet Awards Banquet

Friday, 22 May 2015 630pm NOTL Community Centre

Adults $15, Siblings $7.50, Cadets FREE – please pay at the door if you haven’t already. By reservation already received only – there are no additional spots available for last minute, at the door, additions.

Dinner will begin by 645pm.

Please arrive on time and dressed in semi-formal (no uniform, no jeans, no business casual) attire. Gentlemen: Suit and tie, collared shirt and vest, dress pants or equivalent. Ladies: dresses, skirts or blouses with dress pants or equivalent, hair may be worn down.

Looking forward to a great evening celebrating our cadet’s many accomplishments.

Dessert Treats needed for Sat

Just like an FTX, we are asking parents for donations of baked goods for the luncheon following the parade on Sat. Any item as long as it is peanut/nut-free is welcome. Bake or buy – we aren’t picky! Cookies, squares, brownies, or timbits – you decide.  Gluten/dairy-free baking is also welcome (but please LABEL!).

Please label your container with your LAST NAME and either send it to the parade with your cadet on Sat morning at 9am, or bring it with you when you arrive and give it to Mrs. Mehrotra.

CO’s Parade Update

CADETS: CO’s Parade last night was a good example of the efforts our cadets have been making toward improving their uniforms. Check out the link if you need a little more help with your boots. Don’t forget that haircuts are required for males. Ladies – your hair was perfect last night, keep up the good work. We have 2 cadets poised to surpass Capt Jarrell’s boot perfection – I know you can do it!

Parents: I issued a challenge to your cadets: 30 mins a week outside of our parade night for Cadet Drill & Uniform improvement. Given the workload at school and other team commitments, I suggested they take 10 mins 3X a week – 10 mins per boot, and another 10 mins practicing drill in the house. Don’t worry, they can call the commands in their heads – but should use a mirror to practice their salute, and practice attention, stand at ease, and marching in the hallways. Boots are not required. We have approx 3.5 months until Annual Ceremonial Review to make our Parade Drill the best it can be, and only 2 months until the NAG Drill Competition!

I am looking forward to the results. Should your cadet need any help with their uniform, they can refer to the website Dress Regulations, talk to their Flight Commander, or speak with OCdt Couroux – he knows more about uniforms than I do.
