Bottle Drop Off – Saturday, September 9

Good evening 809 Squadron,

809 Newark RCACS is conducting the first of 3 Bottle Drop Off’s this Saturday morning.   This is a major fundraiser for the unit and all members are required to attend.    Cadets, bring your parents, siblings and friends to help out. It’s a lot of work as well, and the more people we have helping out, the easier the job will be.

We depend greatly on the funds that these bottle drop offs provide.  In order to keep the program free we need everyone, including cadets, parents, staff and SSC members, to provide some sweat equity. To all the adults,  if you have a truck you can bring along for the day, please do. It will help us in transporting the bottles back to VanNoorts.   Make sure you wear something that is appropriate for the weather, yet you don’t mind getting dirty. Please be at VanNoorts Greenhouse no later than 0830 to receive instructions and so that we can have everyone out to their stations by 0900hrs.

Make sure you bring water with you for the morning. Pizza will be laid on after we’re finished up for the day.

What: Cadet Bottle Drop Off
When: Saturday, September 9 @ 0830hrs until approx 1400hrs
Where: VanNoorts Greenhouse (Corner of Hunter Rd & Four Mile Creek Rd)
Dress: Appropriate Civilian Attire

Any questions, please forward them over to myself

Lt Couroux

Changes To Fish Fry – Effective immediately

Parents/Guardians & Cadets:

Please note that effective August 2023, 809 will no longer be organizing cadets to work at the Legion’s Thursday evening Fish Fry.

This is direct result of regulations and policies put forth from DND that we need to adhere to.

We are happy to inform you that our support of Fish Fry will continue in a slightly different way.  We’ll be promoting the event on a weekly basis and encouraging our members to volunteer directly with the Legion.

Cadets, if you’d like to continue participating, please have your parents/guardians reach out to the Legion to let them know you’re available. They’ll take your contact information and will be reaching out to you directly to take part. You’ll become a volunteer directly with them. Remember, this is your opportunity to rack up those volunteer hours required for High School completion.

Parents/Guardians, if you’d like to assist the Legion in organizing their Fish Fry volunteers, please reach out to the Legion and let them know.

124 Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is our main sponsor. We will continue to support them by encouraging volunteer participation. They need your help.

You can contact the Legion at:

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 124
410 King St, Niagara On The Lake, ON L0S 1J0
(905) 468 2353

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 124 (legion124.ca)

Let me re-iterate, Fish Fry is not considered a cadet activity. This is a volunteer activity organized directly by 124 Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Bottle Drop-Off This Saturday (June 10)

Bottle Drop Off – Saturday, June 10 – 0830 hrs – VanNoorts Warehouse

  •  Where: VanNoorts Warehouse on Hunter Rd @ 4 Mile Creek Rd
  • When: Saturday June 10, 2023 @ 0830hrs
  • Who: All Cadets, Parents/Guardians, Staff and SSC members
  • This is the final activity for the 2022/23 training year. All members of the squadron are required to be on-hand for the fundraising activity.   The more hands on-board, the more we can accomplish.  We do this 4 times a year and it’s our our largest fundraiser.
  • PARENTS & GUARDIANS – We need your help too!  We know you value the program, otherwise you wouldn’t have your children join the unit.  The funds we generate from bottle drives help support training activities, help pay the rent for our facility and keep the program free for the cadets!  All this while providing a service for the community.   We need your help to help sort bottles and to transport them from the drop off locations back to the warehouse.  If you have a truck or SUV that can be used to assist please bring it.
  • Please pass information along to friends about the drop off points. Here’s the info:

See everyone on Saturday and keep in mind, our next bottle drive will be Saturday, September 9 (the weekend after Labour Day)

Sincerely,
