Bottle Drive THANK YOU

A message from Mr. Scott Ruttan, Sponsoring Committee Chair:

“Good morning all. Saturday was another successful bottle drive day. The turnout of Cadets, Parents & Staff was fantastic and the results were equally great. Mr. Hendriks will announce the results on Wednesday at the closing of the evening. Thanks to everyone who participated, and once again a huge thankyou to Mr. & Mrs. VanNoort for their generosity of supplying the facility to sort and the trucks to deliver. Without them the success of these drives would certainly be a lot harder to do & equal.”

I would like to add my own personal thanks as well. In particular to the parents who help by driving and sorting – thank you for taking the time to support your cadet in our program. And to those families where it’s simply an “all hands on deck” kind of day: thank you for giving up your family time to support your cadet family. We appreciate you! – Capt Palumbo

Bottle Drive Saturday!

Saturday, 10 January 2015, 9am-4pm at the VanNoort Greenhouses at the corner of Hunter & Creek Rds in NOTL. Dress is CIVILIAN WARM with CADET TOQUE. Prepare to get cold and dirty, dress appropriately. Lunch will be provided for all cadets, staff, sponsors and volunteers.

Attendance is mandatory for all cadets. The $75.00 attendance cheque will be cashed if cadets fail to participate.

We will be collecting, sorting, loading and delivering bottles all day. Parents there are three ways you can help:

1. offering to drive cadets to pick up bottles,

2. stay and sort at the Greenhouse, or

3. meet the truck at the Beer Store in St. Catharines to unload the delivery.

These Bottle Drives are our single largest one-day fundraising initiatives for the training year. Without your help we can’t make our goals. Without the money they generate, we can’t offer the best possible program for our cadets.

If you are able to drive, please introduce yourself to CI NORMA RUTTAN – who will be running the drivers all day. You will need to bring your DRIVER’s LICENSE and a copy of your CAR INSURANCE to her for validation.

Let’s have a great fundraising day!!!

Tagging Sunday

All cadets scheduled to TAG on Sunday afternoon are to arrive at 1225pm. Shift begins at 1230. Dress: C-3 with PARKA and TOQUE and BLACK GLOVES. It is colder than you think outside and you’ll be standing still.

Cadet location assignments will take place upon arrival at the office. Parents are then asked to help drive cadets to their location and pick them up at the end of the shift to bring them back to the squadron to hand in their box.

Response has been fabulous so far this wknd – let’s make it a record haul! Bring your smiles and enthusiasm.

The following cadets are expected at tagging tomorrow: (you need to be LOGGED IN to view)

TAGGING starts tonight

Dress for tagging shifts tonight and this wknd: C-3 – this is your tunic with turtleneck sweater underneath. Toque instead of wedge. PARKA for everyone. Black gloves as well.

POLISH those boots! See you tonight. Check previous post for schedule/timings. All cadets are to arrive at the cadet hall 5 mins before their scheduled time to pick up their tag box and to be assigned a driver/location.

PARENT DRIVERS NEEDED: if you can help drive for one of the tag shifts this wknd, please let the Officer in Charge know when you arrive at the Sqn. Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required.

Tag Days

Staff and SSC assignments are included in the schedule. WE HAVE ONE SPOT OPEN ON FRI NIGHT FOR A CADET TO FILL. Please email Capt Palumbo if you are available. tammypalumbo@yahoo.ca

Some cadets may/may not be available or may need to change shifts as shifts were assigned to those cadets that either did not sign up on Wednesday or were absent.

PARENTS PLEASE REMEMBER: if your cadet does not attend Tagging this wknd, the $75.00 cheque will be deposited to the Sqn account. Contact the Commanding Officer if you need to change a shift due to availability issues.

We’re looking forward to a great tagging weekend!

Bottle Drive: Msg from Sponsoring Committee Chairman

Good morning all,

Well another bottle drive is in the books, the turnout from Cadets & Parents & Staff & SSC was great, there was lots of cooperation between everybody & the whole day went well.

We had the Beer Store overwhelmed with 3 trucks packed to the hilt, it was all they could handle. We still have at least ¾ of a truck load stored at VanNoorts  quanset hut which we will have to get to the Beer Store on Tuesday evening. We will be loading them on the Truck @ 4:00 in the afternoon for a return to the Depot at 5:00, if anyone is available to help that would be great, many hands make a big job seem small.

It is too early to tell how much money we made this time, but I’m sure that this will be a record breaker for us.

THANKS to everyone involved, Staff, Cadets, Parents, SSC members, Rob & Sharon VanNoort, Stu Sherlock at Niagara Motors and of course last but not least our very generous town of N.O.T.L it is a great pleasure working with all of you.

Thankyou,

Scott Ruttan
