TRAINING UPDATE: Wed Night Summer Trg Parent Briefing

Monday 26 May 14:  Sports 7-9pm

Wednesday 28 May 14: Regular Trg Night & Summer Trg Parent Briefing – briefing to begin at 645pm. Approx 45 mins. All parents/guardians of cadets who are attending summer trg this year are to attend.

Saturday 7 Jun 14: Canada’s Wonderland Year-End Trip – optional. Cost of $45 per cadet includes admission to the park, lunch and the cost of the bus (courtesy of the Sqn Sponsoring Committee). CASH to Lt Russell NLT Wed 4 Jun 14.

REMINDER: Annual Banquet & Parade RSVP

Please make sure you RSVP for BOTH the Annual Review Awards Banquet (Fri) and the Annual Ceremonial Review Parade (Sat) by TOMORROW. We need to know the numbers for the caterer.

Fri Night Banquet: 6pm for 630 Dinner. At the Sqn HQ. Dress: Semi-formal (no uniforms).      $15 adults, $7.50 siblings & children under 19, Cadets Free. GLIDING TOMORROW MORNING!!! Sun 11 May 14

In a rare opportunity, we have been offered to post-pone our Gliding session to tomorrow morning as it was CANCELLED for this afternoon (Sat 10 May 14) due to weather.

TIMINGS: 0845am-12noon, Sun 11 May 14

LOCATION: NOTL Airport

DRESS: civilian appropriate for weather; rubber boots, sunscreen, hat.

BRING: something to read, listen to, and a snack in your backpack.  Everything you take out to the airfield (including any garbage) must be brought back out.

NOTE: we will be sharing this slot with another Sqn.

Gliding Sat at NOTL Airport

Gliding at the NOTL Airport this weekend on Sat from 1pm to 4pm. There are spots for 20 cadets. Only 13 have signed up – if you can come, show up. If you signed up, show up. Dress: Civilian appropriate for the weather (it is colder on the airfield).

CO’s Parade Tonight

Tonight will be a CO’s parade. Dress will be C2B for EVERYONE (with the exception of the WOs – C2 with tunic).

It will be a prep night for the INTER-FLIGHT DRILL COMPETITION next Wed. The final event in the race for the Top Flight Award.

It will also be a practice night for Annual Ceremonial Review which is taking place in a little over 2 weeks.

WOA Band & Drill Competition

The Western Ontario Area (WOA) Band & Drill Competition is next wknd: 10 & 11 May 14. We are scheduled to compete on Sun, 11 May at 1245pm at Fanshawe College in London ON. WOA Band & Drill Competitions Shedule 2014  The bus departs from the Sqn LHQ at 0700 hrs and returns at approx. 1600hrs the same day. B&D – Bussing 2014

Unfortunately this conflicts with Mother’s Day. Although we regret to pull your cadet from family commitments, we ask that you understand that there are 69 teams competing, and at least 25 units must be scheduled for the Sunday. Our team members have been working hard each week to improve their 3rd place finish at the NAG Drill Competition in April. We look forward to them representing 809 Sqn on the area stage at the drill portion of the competition next weekend.

Dress for traveling: Sqn t-shirt, jeans, running shoes, cadet parka liner

BRING: Uniform – all parts for C-2. Tunic, tie, blue dress shirt, pants, belt, socks, parade boots, wedge in a garment bag.

BRING: a backpack with a snack for the bus and something to read/listen to. We will be sharing the bus with 23 Sqn St. Catharines (after it picks us up in Virgil it will travel to St. Catharines before continuing on to London).  DO NOT BRING ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO LOSE.
