Good afternoon!
We’re easing into a return to cadet activities. Lt Russell is already sending out this year’s annual verification forms and verifying health cards, so if you and your parents/guardians can ensure that this information gets back to us sooner than later, we’ll have a smoother start.
For the next two weeks, we’ll be working toward setup for our training year’s start in October. Part of this will be a review of Instructional Techniques for our staff and senior cadets at 809 HQ. Another will be uniform exchanges for those of you (okay, all of you) who have outgrown your existing uniforms.
For FSgts and above, arrive at 809 HQ no later than 1820 (6:20pm) to ensure a timely start.
Cadets who have submitted requests for uniform parts and who have been contacted by CI Dau with confirmation that their replacement parts are available should arrive with their outsized uniform parts packed in a plastic bag.
Arrivals and departures will be per the COVID-19 Safety Protocols SOP.
While we’re on the topic of uniforms, if you haven’t submitted your new uniform sizes yet, we need that sooner than later. In-person training in October will require uniform. If you don’t have one that fits because you took too long to put in the request, that’s not an excuse we’ll be accepting.

For those cadets who are interested in applying for the glider pilot or power pilot training courses next summer, ground school will begin on 1 October and you must notify the staff in order to be loaded onto the course. Candidates must be 16 years of age by 31 August 2022 for the GPTC and 17 years of age by 31 August 2022 for the PPTC. This course and successful completion of the associated exam is required for those cadets who wish to apply for the GPTC and PPTC courses next summer, so contact us immediately if you qualify and would like to be signed up for this program. Participation in the course will require access to a mobile device (Android or iOS) or access to a personal computer. No supplemental materials (“From the Ground Up” texts/workbooks, “Canada Flight Supplement”, &c) will be required.
Lastly, this Wednesday night marks 50 years since 809 Newark Squadron formed. We’re going to be 50! We had long hoped that we would be able to celebrate largely, but circumstances aren’t permitting us to do much with that. Rest assured we’ll be making up for lost time as we have the ability to open up again.

Registration
All attendees must check in for all in-person activities using the Registration for In-Person Events form and complete the Ontario COVID-19 School Screening form, bringing proof of completion (printed or electronic) for verification. Cadets should complete the screening as students. Staff should complete the screening as employees.
