Ice Wine Festival

We have met our quota for volunteers for tomorrow: thanks to the following people for stepping up to the challenge: (you have to be signed in to see the list)

Thank you for giving some of your own time to help support NOTL and the Squadron.

URGENT – Volunteers needed for Tomorrow!!

We still need a few cadets for tomorrow evening – 5pm at the Clock Tower in NOTL. To help with the tear down of the Ice Wine Festival.

PARENTS can help too – bring your cadet for an hour and lend a hand. All helpers are appreciated (but only the cadets will get official volunteer hours for school).

Send a msg to Capt Palumbo – tammypalumbo@yahoo.ca or 289-783-1942 if you can come out. Thank you in advance!

SUNDAY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We need 5 cadets to volunteer an hour of their time on Sunday, January 22nd at 5pm.

Meet at the clock tower downtown. Dress is civilian with cadet toques. Dress appropriate for the weather – we will be outside.

Time will count toward high school volunteer hour requirements. CI Thiffault will meet you at the clock tower and take attendance.

SEND YOUR AVAILABILITY TO CAPT PALUMBO via text msg – 289-783-1942. Include your last name. Thx!

Bottle Drive THIS Saturday 9am-4pm

Don’t forget: mandatory fundraising day THIS Sat, Jan 7th at VanNoort Greenhouses (corner of Hunter and Creek roads in NOTL). Don’t be late – we start promptly at 9am. All cadets are required to attend – attendance cheques will be cashed for those cadets not present.

We NEED: DRIVERS (parents please bring in your valid driver’s license and car insurance to be checked by Capt Palumbo), pick up your car magnets, driving route & cadets inside; SORTERS all day long at the greenhouse – it’s an endless mess but worth every penny – see “subject matter experts” to make sure you are sorting the way the Beer Store wants it done; END OF DAY unloading at the Beer Store in St. Catharines – can’t help by sorting or driving? Meet us at 4pm at the Beer Store to help with the last unload of the day – it usually takes us until 6pm to be completely finished and on our way home.

CADETS: wear your sqn hoodies/ball caps, and any other 809 branded items. WEAR YOUR WINTER COAT AND GLOVES – it’s supposed to be -5C (feels like -12C) on Sat. So dress appropriately. You’ll be outside for the majority of the time.

We will be providing lunch for everyone helping out – there will be coffee/tea on-site as well for our adult volunteers. Please make sure we take your attendance so we know who to thank!

Bring your enthusiasm! We are looking forward to a great haul.

https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/severe-weather-outlook/ontario/niagara-on-the-lake

Please follow the above link for updates on the weather system developing today. There is a very real possibility that we may need to end the bottle drive early to ensure the safety of our cadets and parent drivers. Currently, the weather network and #ONStorm are anticipating severe thunderstorms beginning in the late afternoon to early evening for most of Niagara.

We will be monitoring the situation today, and will update you through this website. Cadets will be recalled in the event of severe weather and the rally point will be the VanNoort Greenhouses on the corner of Hunter & Creek Roads (same as drop off). They will call for pick-up at that point.

Capt Palumbo will have her cellphone available today: 289-783-1942 Please call if you have updated weather information, experience an emergency situation or need to contact your cadet.
