Summary
Remembrance Day in Niagara-on-the-Lake has come and gone. As always, we’re more than proud of our cadets’ participation in the Royal Canadian Legion’s Poppy Campaign over the past weeks, involvement in their various schools’ ceremonies, and attendance at the Parades in the Old Town and Queenston today. Their commitment to remembrance and citizenship is to be commended.

This week, the squadron settles back into our normal training routine with effective speaking on Monday and regular training on Wednesday.

Remembrance Day Weekend

Good evening.

This morning, I had the privilege of attending Crossroads Public School’s Remembrance Day Ceremony where five of our cadets held key positions in its production. As in previous years, the students and teachers assembled a moving and heartfelt presentation honouring our fallen. Congratulations to Mme. Zoccoli, our first Community Reviewing Officer, who did an admirable job of putting it all together.

We’ll be beginning our own Remembrance Day activities tomorrow, beginning with two shifts of the Royal Canadian Legion’s Poppy Campaign at Phil’s Valu Mart. Cadets who have signed up should meet me in front of the Valu Mart in C3 dress to collect their poppy boxes 10 minutes before their shifts.

After dinner, at 1900h (7:00pm) the squadron will be meeting upstairs at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 124 for our annual Remembrance Day Sleepover, Vigil, and Parades. Full details can be found here:

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Date

RO Number

Summary
We’re coming up on Remembrance Day and the associated activities are well underway. Thanks go out to those cadets and SSC members who have already volunteered to assist with the Poppy Campaign, the Veterans’ Dinner, and Veterans’ Sunday Luncheon.

This Wednesday is a CO’s Parade, which will give cadets the opportunity to have their uniforms at their best and to make any necessary corrections before school Remembrance Day Ceremonies and the Remembrance Day Parades next weekend. All cadets are actively encouraged to wear their uniforms to their schools on Friday, whether they are directly participating in Remembrance Day Ceremonies or not.

Saturday, we will have our annual sleepover, Remembrance Day Vigil and Parades. Full details can be found at the following link: Remembrance Day Sleepover/Vigil/Parades. This is one of the most important events of the year and all cadets are expected to participate.

Sunday morning, as we begin the vigil shifts at the Cenotaph, breakfast will be served by the Squadron Sponsorship Committee. A sign-up sheet has been posted for parents to commit to bringing food and drink to this: Remembrance Day Breakfast Contributions. We appreciate any and all contributions.

It’s a busy week, but with your help and commitment, it will be a successful and educational one.
