AIRPORT FEST 2014 – Cadets needed

Calling all Air Cadets!  There will be an estimated 2,000 attendees for Airport Fest ’14. The hours of the event are 1100 to 1700 on Saturday, 16 Aug 2014.

The event will be a “Wings & Wheels” event, including the antique military vehicle club. Cadet volunteers are required for the following:

a) Ground side parking: 4 cadets for each of 2 shifts – 1100 to 1300, and then 1300 to 1500. [total of 8 personnel]   
b) Air side security: 2 cadets for each of 3 shifts – 1100 to 1300; 1300 to 1500; and 1500 to 1700. [total of 6 personnel]
This is open to all current Air Cadets at 809 Sqn. These hours would count directly toward your high school volunteer hour requirements.
In addition to the above, we will have a recruiting table at the Airport Fest for the day. We will need 2 cadets to hand out material and speak with the general public about what makes Air Cadets such a fantastic opportunity. This is the perfect chance for those returning from summer training to meet up with their friends and exchange stories!

GENERAL TRG – individual travel itineraries

As noted in the previous post: bring your HEALTH CARD, TRANSPORTATION FORM, OFFER OF PARTICIPATION with you to board the bus.

Summer Training REMINDERS

Please remember to bring:

– your ONTARIO HEALTH CARD (no substitutes accepted)

– your TRANSPORTATION FORM (copy here: Cadet In Region Tpt Form 2012)

– your OFFER OF PARTICIPATION (signed by you, your parents and either CI Ruttan or Capt Palumbo)

These documents will guarantee you smooth traveling to your destination.  If you are missing any of these items, it is YOUR responsibility to make sure you have them in your possession prior to boarding the bus/airbus/airplane.

Dress for travel is UNIFORM (no tunic). Bring only what you can carry (one backpack and one luggage piece). Snacks are fine too – but clean up after yourself. And remember: don’t bring anything that you really don’t want to lose. Things happen. Stuff goes missing.

HAVE FUN! Our first cadet departs SUNDAY! Capt Palumbo will be in touch over the next few weeks with any outstanding travel orders. Check your email.

 

 

Spiritwear Pick-Up & Summer Training Joining Instructions

Spiritwear Pick-up will be TOMORROW: Wed 25 Jun 14. From 730pm-9pm. At the Squadron Office. For those that ordered it including the Range Team members.  $40.00 for Hoodies (with name embroidered), and $35.00 (with just the squadron crest embroidered). Golf Shirts $30.00 (with the squadron crest embroidered) are available for Staff Members and Sponsoring Committee Members.

All Joining Instructions for Summer Training have now been updated on the cadet portal website:

UPDATE: Joining Instructions & Spiritwear

Please be advised that several of the Joining Instructions, though not all, have been updated on the portal.cadets.gc.ca website. Specifically: Blackdown and Connaught, HMCS Ontario, CRGS, and Power. We are still waiting to hear when the National Course (including some for Eastern Region) will be updated. I will post a msg on the website as soon as I receive anything.

The Spiritwear delivery has been delayed again. My apologies. We had a difficult time proofing the  new logo and as of today I have not received the order in the mail. I will post a msg on the website as soon as I have received the clothing to set up a date for pick up.

UPDATE: Power Flying & Training

Keep up to date with news by checking the website each week.

Monday 16 Jun 14: Office open from 7-9pm for SPIRIT WEAR pick up and any last minute volunteer hour paperwork etc.

POWER FLYING: Capt Jarrell will update the website with the new times once he has confirmed the airplane is fixed. Keep checking back.

Training is officially concluded for the remainder of June, July & August. However, don’t forget to check your email/website for BUS information for Summer Training and for the Airport Fest in August.

Parent Briefing TONIGHT

Regular Training Night. Dress: C-2B for Sgt & up. Dress: C-4A (blue t-shirt no tunic) for LAC, Cpl, FCpl.

PARENT BRIEFING for Summer Training: 645pm. Classroom #2 (adjacent to office). 45 mins. IMPORTANT for all parents of cadets attending summer training this year.

NEXT WEEK: Cadet Squadron Commander Change of Command Parade. Dress: C-1.
