Summary
The Autumn FTX was a success! Our first night was a bit cold, but we pulled through thanks to double-layered sleeping bags and some very impressive campfires. Saturday warmed up a bit and we managed to avoid most of the rain that was forecast for the day, carrying out a full slate of aircrew survival training. Thanks to everyone who pulled together to make the weekend a success.

This week, we still have our optional training night running on Monday, including Mrs. Gowans’ Effective Speaking class. On Wednesday, we’re going to keep things academically light and conduct our semi-annual cadet fitness testing.

We also have a Cadet Dag Days fundraising weekend coming up this weekend. Each cadet is required to sign up for two shifts of fundraising.

Expect the pace of cadet activities to decrease somewhat as we head into December.

Bottle Drive on Saturday!

All cadets are expected to join us for our first bottle drive of the year, Sat 8 Sep 18 at 9am. Meet at VanNoort Greenhouse at the corner of Hunter and Creek Roads in NotL. We will be ready for the cadets to go home at 4pm. This is one of our two bottle drive days, and one of our best fundraisers, and we need all hands on deck. Lunch is provided.

We need parent drivers and cadets to pick up bottles from local houses. Maps and instructions will be provided when you arrive. Drivers please bring proof of care insurance and your driver’s license. Cadets sign-in with WO2 Couroux. Parents please sign-in with Capt Lemoine.

We also need help sorting the wine, beer and liquor bottles and loading the truck. Bring a friend!

Dress is civilian appropriate for the weather. Wear your 809 Ball cap if you have one.

Come out and have a fun day!

Make sure you are arrive five minutes before your shift and be sure that you ware are wearing your uniform. You may wear C2 or C3 depending on the weather. Toques are also optional, but you must wear either a toque or a wedge. Definitely bring your parka. Lunch will be provided for those cadets participating all day on Saturday.

WE HAVE NEED OF FIVE MORE CADETS ON SUNDAY. If you can cover an extra shift on Sunday, please let a staff or SSC member know as when you arrive for your first shift.
