Winter Bottle Drive Tomorrow!

Our second bottle drive of the training year is tomorrow at Van Noort Greenhouses (2069 Four Mile Creek Road at the corner of Hunter Road) in Niagara-on-the-Lake. We will start promptly at 0900 (9:00am) and we need all cadets and as many parent volunteers as possible. Please remember that this is a mandatory fundraising activity and that attendance cheques will be cashed for those cadets not present.

Before the bottle drive itself begins, we need some volunteers to meet Mr. Abt at 0730 (7:30am) to help load the bottles that have been collected from our drop-off program.

DRIVERS: We need drivers! Please bring in your valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance, pick up your driving route, and cadets. If you have a truck, so much the better;
SORTERS: We need sorters for the entire day. It’s a dirty job, but worth every penny. We have people who know how it works, so find someone who looks like they know what they’re doing and they’ll show you the ropes;
CADETS: It’s going to be a wet day, so DRESS TO STAY DRY. Bring GLOVES, good boots, and wear your cadet toque. We’re expecting to up to 60mm of rain so don’t under-dress. Bringing a change of clothes for halfway through the day isn’t a bad idea either. You’ll be outside for the majority of the day.

We will be providing lunch for everyone helping out, and there will be coffee/tea on-site as well for our adult volunteers.

See you tomorrow morning. We hope the weather forecaster is wrong! Don’t forget all your empties from home.

SSC Message: Bottle Drive

Call out to all cadet parents.  We appear to have a bumper crop of bottles this time around so we are going to try and squeak 3 trucks out in addition to full-on cadet collection.

This will take a maximum amount of parent power!!!!

Can you please confirm for me tonight (email coryabt@hotmail.comhow many adults will be coming out on Saturday morning and if you are able to drive cadets for bottle pickups.

We are going to have a small squad starting early and everyone else should be on-site at VanNoorts by 8:45am….we want to get the cadets going by 9:00am.

If you have a hand dolly that you can bring for the day please do so and we will endeavour to save as many backs as possible.

Should we have enough people and are as industrious as I know we can be, even with 3 trucks we should be able to get out early!

This one sets the tone for the year so let’s make this one GOOD!

Bottle Sorting on 1 Jun 2019

We’re seeking parent volunteers for bottle delivery on Saturday, 1 Jun at 0830 (8:30am) at Van Noort’s. We will pack and fill one truck for delivery to the Beer Store.

We’re also looking for a couple of parent volunteers for emptying the trailer at Mr. Ruttan’s at 0730 (7:30am). We will then bring the truck to Vannoorts for the remainder of the bottles.

Please call (905-468-7584) or email (809air@cadets.gc.ca) the squadron if you’re available to volunteer.

Weekly Routine Orders – Week of 6 Jan 19

Date
6 Jan 19

RO Number
19-01

Summary
Welcome back! Here’s hoping everyone had a great Christmas and is enjoying what we’ve had so far of the new year.

January isn’t a heavy month, but we have a few upcoming activities.

  • CO’s Parade on the 9th. Let’s make sure everyone gets back into practice and, just as importantly, that everyone’s uniforms still fit properly.
  • Winter Bottle Drive on the 12th. This is one of our mandatory fundraisers and so it’s important that all cadets (and as many parents as possible) are participating.
  • NAG Sports Competition on the 26th. We took away four out of five trophies last year. Let’s see if we can keep them, and maybe add a fifth, this year.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone’s return. Remember, if you know anyone else who you think might benefit from our program, don’t hesitate to invite them out.
