Happy New Year 809! I hope you all had a wonderful and restful holiday break. I’m looking forward to seeing each of you back at the squadron this week. I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome Capt Emptage to 809 as our new Training Officer. Capt Emptage comes to us with a huge amount of experience as a cadet and a CIC officer. Ma’am, we’re excited to have you with us. To celebrate, we’ll be having our first CO’s parade of the year on Wednesday. So, get your Blues ready.

Announcements
1. Monday Evening Optional Training – 9 January – Effective Speaking and Aviation
When: 1830-2115
Where: Squadron HQ
Dress: Appropriate Civilian Attire

Effective Speaking:
The next Effective Speaking will be Mon. Jan 9th. We will be learning how to edit your work/ speeches. Second half we will be practicing impromptus. Speeches are to be completed. To be printed double spaced and handed in for Monday.
Aviation:
WO2 Vidal will be running an aviation class. This is a great introduction to anyone considering becoming a pilot later in their cadet career, or if you just have an interest. This week, you’ll be presenting your favourite planes.
2. Canteen Cards
Canteen cards will be available for sale this Wednesday night. Cost is $20 per card. Remember, you need to purchase a canteen card in order to obtain anything from the canteen.
3. 126/809 RCACS Mixed Drill Team
No information on Drill Team as of yet. This will be posted separately.
4. Niagara Air Group Sports Competition – Saturday, January 28
The nine squadrons making up the Niagara Air Group (NAG) will be competing in three different sports on Saturday, January 28.
- Volleyball
- European Handball
- Basketball
611 Harvard Squadron in Dunnville will be hosting. Transportation and lunch will be provided.
This is a fun activity where you get to show your pride in your squadron. All cadets are encouraged to take part.
