Just a couple of notes regarding the Garrison FTX this weekend:
1. Friday Sept 16
Departure – The bus departure time is at 1730hrs (5:30pm) on Friday evening at the squadron headquarters. Be there no later than 1715hrs (5:15pm)
There will be no meals served on Friday evening, so EAT BEFORE LEAVING FOR THE BUS!
Bring your health card. If you don’t have this, you won’t be permitted to board the bus. The bus leaves at 1730hrs sharp and won’t wait for someone that’s forgotten their card.
2. Sunday Sept 18
Arrival back at squadron headquarters is expected around 1700hrs (5:00pm).
3. Updated Cadet Kit List:
Your are required to bring the following items:
- Coat/parka
- FTU Uniform, including
- Pants
- Tunic
- Elemental T-Shirt
- Headdress
- Boots
- Wool Socks
- If you don’t have a uniform, then substitute camping/hiking clothing
- 1-2 Warm sweaters
- 4 Pairs of warm socks
- Sleeping attire
- 4 pair Undergarments
- Toiletries
- Towel/ hand towel
- Raingear
- Gloves
- Flashlight
- Backpack
- Water Bottle
- Hot Drink Mug
- Sleeping Bag
- For Canoeing
- Items that may get wet
- Civilian Pants
- Civilian Shirt
- Running Shoes/Water Shoes
- Items that may get wet
Optional Items:
- Wristwatch
- Chapstick
- Whistle
- Pencil and Notebook
All kit must be packed into a single duffle bag or large backpack that the cadet can carry on their own. All cadets are required to carry their own kit. No rolling luggage is authorized.
At NO time the following will be brought on any exercise:
- Electronic devices
- No-prescription drugs
- Cigarettes, cigars, vape or other similar item
- Knives or other cutting utensils
- Alcohol or mood-altering substances
- This is not an exhaustive list. Cadets will be held to their personal conduct as per their signed Code of Conduct
- Any cadet caught in possession of any of the above items will be returned home immediately at the expense of the parents.
Cadets who are deemed not to have suitable, or enough, equipment will not be permitted to participate in the exercise.
All prescription medication and over the counter medication will be handed over to the Cadet Corps/Squadron upon arrival. It must be in the original container or prepared blister pack with the cadet’s name and dosage clearly marked. It is the responsibility of the cadet to know when and in what dosage they need to take it.
The Niagara Garrison is not responsible for any items lost during the trip, but will make every effort in search of lost items.
