Training Cancelled

Sorry for the delay everyone. I got caught up with a conference call and wasn’t able to check the weather promptly at 1630. I’ve since looked at the reports, the radar, and the state of the squadron HQ. The good news is that the snow is beginning to abate. The bad news is we’re rurally located, so there has been no plowing of the roads and no clearance of snow at HQ. In the interest of safety, I’m going to cancel training tonight and we can pick up again next week.

Stay home. Stay warm. Stay safe.

Snowfall Warning and Tonight’s Training

We’re still under a snowfall warning, but we’re not cancelling tonight’s training just yet. If the situation worsens, that may change, so stay tuned. A final call will be made no later than 1630 (4:30pm). Thank you for your patience.

Aviation Weekend Update

Good afternoon.

We’re already hearing the winds pick up, so we’re leaving early to try and get home before things get too bad. Our bus has an ETA of 1330-1400 (1:30pm to 2:00pm) and so we have an an estimated return of 1545-1645 (3:45pm to 4:45pm). More specific updates will be sent as we have them.

Winter Procedures

We’re in the thick of winter now, and that means that we’re coming into our HQ with a lot of slush and snow on our footwear that we don’t want tracked into the building.

Going forward, when we’re dealing with wet weather, we need to arrive at HQ with dry footwear. If you’re coming in uniform, wear winter boots until you get into the hall and change put your parade boots on after you arrive. If you’re coming for a sports night, same deal. Leave your wet boots by the door and switch to dry running shoes before coming in.

if we’re proactive, we can avoid having to mop up too much when we’re finished for the evening.
