Bottle Drive THIS Saturday 9am-4pm

Don’t forget: mandatory fundraising day THIS Sat, Jan 7th at VanNoort Greenhouses (corner of Hunter and Creek roads in NOTL). Don’t be late – we start promptly at 9am. All cadets are required to attend – attendance cheques will be cashed for those cadets not present.

We NEED: DRIVERS (parents please bring in your valid driver’s license and car insurance to be checked by Capt Palumbo), pick up your car magnets, driving route & cadets inside; SORTERS all day long at the greenhouse – it’s an endless mess but worth every penny – see “subject matter experts” to make sure you are sorting the way the Beer Store wants it done; END OF DAY unloading at the Beer Store in St. Catharines – can’t help by sorting or driving? Meet us at 4pm at the Beer Store to help with the last unload of the day – it usually takes us until 6pm to be completely finished and on our way home.

CADETS: wear your sqn hoodies/ball caps, and any other 809 branded items. WEAR YOUR WINTER COAT AND GLOVES – it’s supposed to be -5C (feels like -12C) on Sat. So dress appropriately. You’ll be outside for the majority of the time.

We will be providing lunch for everyone helping out – there will be coffee/tea on-site as well for our adult volunteers. Please make sure we take your attendance so we know who to thank!

Bring your enthusiasm! We are looking forward to a great haul.

FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE – 14, 15, 16 Oct 16

Reminder: Cadets are to join us for our first & mandatory Field Training Exercise (FTX) THIS wknd at Camp Wetaskiwin.

There will be a bus provided for our cadets. It will meet at the Sqn Office on Fri and return the cadets on Sunday. Timings will be announced on Wed. Senior cadets will be providing most of the instruction and leadership training this wknd. It is a required weekend for all cadets to complete their level. All meals, accommodations and transportation will be provided to your cadet for the duration of the FTX.

ADVANCE PARTY: will bring their FTX clothing/backpack/teaching items with them on WED NIGHT and leave them at the cadet office to be packed with the rest of the kit being brought out on Fri. Capt Palumbo will pick up ALL the senior cadets (who were at the meeting last Wed) from their respective High Schools on Fri afternoon, immediately following dismissal. Dinner will be provided for the ADVANCE PARTY ONLY.

All other cadets not a part of the advance tasking are required to have dinner before boarding the bus in NOTL.

Parents/Cadets: please use the KIT LIST here annex-c-fall-kit-list-2016 as a guide for what to bring this wknd. PLAN FOR THE WEATHER. We will be sleeping OUTSIDE in TENTS – pack accordingly. Currently, the forecast has us receiving between 15-20mm of rain on Sunday – we will train RAIN or SHINE (within reason – if at any time we need to leave the training site due to safety concerns, a post to this website will be made, and parents contacted about early arrival to the Cadet Office).

Capt Palumbo will have her cell phone with her for EMERGENCY use – 289-783-1942.

CO’s Parade Wed Trg Night

This Wed marks our first CO’s parade of the training year. We will have regular training to start off the night, then end on the parade square for the final period. Parents are encouraged to come out and watch our cadets as they learn this important aspect of cadet training: squadron drill.  Cadets are encouraged to bring a friend – all levels!

Dress is C-1 for everyone – check the numbered ordered of dress under the cadet resources tab for the picture of what you are required to wear tomorrow night. New recruits: black pants, white shirt, black tie.

We will also (FINALLY!) be previewing the video from our rafting trip in June with the senior level 4,5,6 cadets. Come out and see how much fun you can have at 809 squadron!
