Drill Team Practices

Beginning on Mon, 22 Feb, and for the remaining Monday nights until the NAG Drill Competition, the Drill Team will be practicing from 7 – 9 pm (with a break mid-way through).

Dress is civilian with drill boots and wedge for everyone. NO practice on Mon 15 Feb as it is Family Day.

Here is a challenge from another Air Cadet Squadron Drill Team. Maybe we need to install some mirrors?

NAG DRILL COMP 11 Apr 15

We are hosting the NAG Drill Competition & Turkey Shoot tomorrow at our LHQ.

DRILL TEAM MEMBERS: please note there has been a time change. The day is now starting at 9AM. Everyone is expected to be at the LHQ no later than 915am in order to be on parade for the opening ceremonies. We will be finished for the day at 4pm.

Here is the revised schedule: ANNEX A NAG Drill Comp Schedule 2015

For an idea of who is doing what, you can read the OP ORDER for the Comp here: op order drill comp 2015

Don’t forget: bring your own lunch; canteen will be available. Bring your uniform on a hanger. Bring your polishing kit. We are Team #7 – so we’ll be on at approx 2pm for inspection, followed immediately by our performance. Tell your parents to come see!

BEST OF LUCK! I am so excited to see how much you have improved this year.

CO’s Parade Update

CADETS: CO’s Parade last night was a good example of the efforts our cadets have been making toward improving their uniforms. Check out the link if you need a little more help with your boots. Don’t forget that haircuts are required for males. Ladies – your hair was perfect last night, keep up the good work. We have 2 cadets poised to surpass Capt Jarrell’s boot perfection – I know you can do it!

Parents: I issued a challenge to your cadets: 30 mins a week outside of our parade night for Cadet Drill & Uniform improvement. Given the workload at school and other team commitments, I suggested they take 10 mins 3X a week – 10 mins per boot, and another 10 mins practicing drill in the house. Don’t worry, they can call the commands in their heads – but should use a mirror to practice their salute, and practice attention, stand at ease, and marching in the hallways. Boots are not required. We have approx 3.5 months until Annual Ceremonial Review to make our Parade Drill the best it can be, and only 2 months until the NAG Drill Competition!

I am looking forward to the results. Should your cadet need any help with their uniform, they can refer to the website Dress Regulations, talk to their Flight Commander, or speak with OCdt Couroux – he knows more about uniforms than I do. Together, we can encourage them to be their absolute best. As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns,

FTX A HUGE SUCCESS & Mon Night Trg

WOW! The FTX was fantastic. The awesome trg schedule, range, snowball fight, rocket launch & Team Canada’s Gold medal game made it one for the record books.

Thank you to everyone that contributed treats – they were delicious. Also a big thank you to CI Thiffault for all of her advanced prep in the kitchen and to our Officer Staff for taking an afternoon off from their regular work week to join the advance party and make sure we were ready for the cadets at 730pm.
