CO’s Parade Wed Trg Night

This Wed marks our first CO’s parade of the training year. We will have regular training to start off the night, then end on the parade square for the final period. Parents are encouraged to come out and watch our cadets as they learn this important aspect of cadet training: squadron drill.  Cadets are encouraged to bring a friend – all levels!

Dress is C-1 for everyone – check the numbered ordered of dress under the cadet resources tab for the picture of what you are required to wear tomorrow night. New recruits: black pants, white shirt, black tie.

We will also (FINALLY!) be previewing the video from our rafting trip in June with the senior level 4,5,6 cadets. Come out and see how much fun you can have at 809 squadron!

CO’s Parade, Guest Speaker, Sponsor Appreciation Night

Parents/Guardians are welcome to join us for this exciting evening. The program will begin following opening briefing and uniform inspection and continue until closing parade at 9pm.

Mr Toby Gula, former CSC of 809 Sqn & current Pilot at Air Canada, will be joining us as our Guest Speaker. We will also be having our CO’s parade – make sure those uniforms are ready! – and finishing with a celebration honouring our Sponsoring Committee members and all they do to make the Squadron the best it can be.

FOR THE PARKING LOT: Please remember to reduce speed when entering and exiting the parking lot. DO NOT drive on the grass area.  DO NOT pull through the paved area via the grass area. Parking spots are permitted along the edge of the grass (immediately adjacent to the paved surface), but not past the end of the concrete storage shed/benches.  Your patience is appreciated.

THIS COMING WEEKEND: we have both our WINTER FTX ANNEX C KIT LIST and the NAG MARKSMANSHIP COMPETITION. Make sure you are prepared for the FTX by reading the kit list above. The marksmanship competition is for the Range Team only. Capt Palumbo will be escorting the range team to and from the comp via the FTX – team members can participate in both. FTX Advanced Party: see Capt Palumbo on Wed night if you can make it (FSgt & up) – Fri 215pm pick up from school/home.

Santa Claus Day Parade

All the cadets that participated in the parade this morning were well received by the spectators lining the parade route this morning. Our float was fantastic! The first year for a float from 809 Sqn and thanks to CI Thiffault, Mr. Hendriks, Mr. Ruttan, Mrs. Burland, OCdt Couroux, and CI Ruttan it was a HUGE addition to our parade entry. Without their efforts our entry would not have been so impressive. Our only drawback was low attendance – only 14 of our 25 cadets attended this event. Cadets & Parents: please check the upcoming months on the website to make sure you can attend as many events as possible. We have more fun, and enjoy more rewards, when everyone works together. Those cadets that attended are reminded to hand-in their volunteer hour sheets for validation to Capt Palumbo. HINT: Log in to see the captions below the photos.

Wednesday will be a great night with both a CO’s parade and a visit from a former cadet. We are delighted that Wade MacPherson, Primary Care Paramedic – former Cadet Squadron Commander of 809 Sqn – will be joining us. Let’s show him how fantastic those uniforms can look!
